Temple Newsam Leeds
This magnificent Tudor-Jacobean country house dates back to the 1500's and has been described as the Hampton Court of the north. It has been the home of many famous residents including 'Luckless' Lord Darnley, the short-lived husband of Mary, Queen of Scots.
Over thirty beautifully restored rooms are open to visitors, containing timeless art treasures and an extensive collection of paintings.
The State Dining Room is available for dinners and there are beautiful Terraces, ideal for receptions - other rooms throughout the House are also available for events
The house is set in an expanse of 1500 acres of well-kept gardens, mature parkland and woodland. Much of the woodland scenery was originally landscaped by Capability Brown in the 18th Century. Fine views of the house can be had from the avenue and Elm Walk and here in the biggest municipal park in Europe, the classical Palladian style is stamped on the whole scene.
