Sir John Soanes Museum London
An historic location in a tranquil setting.
The museum was built by the architect Sir John Soane in 1812 as his private residence and to house his collection of antiques and works of art.
Visitors can see paintings by Hogarth, Canaletto and Turner; gems; silver; illuminated manuscripts; sculpture and furniture. He also acquired 30,000 architectural drawings and built up a library of about 10,000 books.
Recently the museum has re-instated Soane's model room so that the public can see the full range of his architectural models.
