Womersley Park

Womersley Park is a striking Yorkshire Grade II* Georgian residence with roots going back to the establishment of Pontefract Castle by Ilbert de Lacy in 1080.  It was once described as ‘one of Yorkshire’s most picturesque properties’ and has passed from one generation to another within the same family for nearly four hundred years.

It was the former home of Anthony Armstrong-Jones as a boy, who later went on to become The Rt Hon, The Earl of Snowden on his marriage to Princess Margaret.

Womersley Park was acquired by its current owners in 2004 as a private and family home.  Both the house and grounds have undergone a period of sympathetic restoration in order to bring the estate back to its former glory, preserving it for future generations to enjoy.  The Hall stands of the southern edge of the village facing southwards across its parkland grounds.

The Croquet Lawn marquee site can comfortably cater for up to 200 people and affords spectacular views of the Hall, St Martin’s Church, the beautiful vast green parkland and both Lady Hawke Wood and The Rookery in the distance.
